Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American
actor and director renowned for her sex appeal and edginess as well as for her
humanitarian work. Jolie is the daughter of actor Jon Voight, was raised in New
York. After her childhood, she moved to Los Angeles, where she was an inpatient
with mental illness in Girl, interrupted (1999). She was a student at the Lee
Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years. She after that, she enrolled
at Beverly Hills High School. She then studied acting at New York University.
Jolie was also an actor in theater productions. In later years, she was a model
and featured in music videos. Jolie met Jonny Lee Miller (1996 divorced in
1999, divorced). It wasn't well-loved and neither were other films. Jolie was
the segregationist wife of Alabama's governor, garnering the attention of many
in 1997. Jolie later won an award, the Golden Globe Award. Jolie played the
supermodel struggling with addiction to drugs in the HBO film Gia in 1999. Her
performance was rewarded with numerous honours including a Golden Globe Award
and Screen Actors Guild Award. In 1999, she was a part of the comedy Pushing
Tin with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, and in the year following she got
married to Thornton (divorced 2003).After her Oscar-winning performance in
Girl, Interrupted, Jolie starred in a series of action films. She played the
wife of a carjacker (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) and later
adopted a British accent, and mastered street fighting and kickboxing for the
main roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The
Cradle of Life (2003). She played the mother of Alexander in Oliver Stone's
Alexander (2004) as well as played alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in
Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (a sci-fi thriller set in 1930s New York
City). Both films disappointed in the box office, however Jolie's Mr. &
Mrs. Smith (2005) was the biggest success. Jolie played a character acting as a
normal domestic worker while working on the film. Brad Pitt became her co-star.
